I promise I'm not trying to be a dick, but seriously, the contrast is documented in the above link. Delaying transition to another thing seems like a bad idea assuming the company wants to continue to support the community of riders by providing an online forum.
As the product grows, you're going to have separate community bb's set up more frequently when the official one is nodebb as opposed to something more fully functioning.
I've set this up on many different systems, and I didn't find it overwhelmingly complicated.
ESPECIALLY on bitnami, it was a TOTAL breeze. But I've set it up on several linux servers no problem.
