Should there be forum moderators?

  • I don't really think this is a place with bad people. It is a good community just sometimes a person from FM could give more direct answers than we could. I was looking through the costumer service job requirements to see if they had to look at forums and guess what. It is in there to reply to posts on the forum... jut wanted to hear your thoughts.

  • @OffRoadOW In a perfect world, yes. But I think small companies like Future Motion take advantage of user forums to allow competent, experienced riders to take some of the load off their already overloaded support team by answering a lot of the more common questions that come up over and over from new riders.

  • @OffRoadOW Just check out OneWheel Owners Group on Facebook if you're looking for a loosely monitored forum. About 3,000 members over there and way more activity than this forum.

  • @jeffmccosker you need a FB account first... I would probably look at the owners group, I was really asking like if there should be people answering forum questions... can't get fm employees on that group answering stuff

  • @OffRoadOW Moderating , maybe not necessary. But perhaps getting feedback on some of the technical issues.

Seems like a lot of speculations occur and often it leads to a lot of misinformation and consequently misdirections.

  • @fruitygreen They did that a bit in the beginning, but they can't really be expected to monitor hundreds of conversations AND deal with all the support emails coming in. Users giving each other advice is kind of what user forums are all about.

If someone gives you advice, and you're not too sure about it, one thing you can do is click on their name and see what kind of reputation score they have. And then, I don't know, see if anyone else has a higher score by viewing the top reputation board. (Go on, I dare you, haha)

It is humbling to know that you have greater reputation than I do. How you earned wether be in accumulation in time or meritoriously given , you have my respects. The reputation system here on this forum is kinda fun but not really useful towards facts proving. More like a popularity type.

You definitely win this contest and have deservingly gained credibility , however reputation does not make a person absolute in knowledge. Only God is.
Reputation can reveal a persons correctness , but it can also hide a persons incorrectness. I do make decisions based on people reputation but not entirely of it.

I know a lot of individuals who are wrong in there teachings, but its not my place to correct them.
I just let them be. Here on this forum I do see lots of misinformation but hey I am not perfect either. Besides I find it entertaining to see people get worked up because their belief system gets a little tested.

What I do want to see are scientific explanations from the engineers of the OneWheel. Moderators are welcomed too, for those who got a bone to pick with FM.
