Onewheel HUD video
x-post from the Onewheel Owner's Group from facebook:
I did a thing! https://youtu.be/yXMGHKQnptA
I'm calling it Onewheel Video HUD. Basically, it gets some logging information from my ride and displays them along the go pro footage of said ride.
The log has access to a ton of information from the board, like battery voltage, amps regenerated, etc.
Let me know what you guys think and what else would be cool to display on the video.
My script is completely open source, so feel free to contribute or make requests on github: https://github.com/wmaciel/onewheel-video-hud
Let me know if you can think of anything I could improve.
Awesome! Might be cool to have it peg the highest tilt or roll or speed for a few seconds. If you hit a new max over a rolling 20 second time period, you get a second (maybe red) indicator that fades out behind your real-time indicators. If you were doing some tricks or fancy terrain, this would let you see how crazy that last move was. Like a curb nudge or something, you could glance down and see the persistent indicator for what your max pitch was during that. By the way, how did you mount your camera?
@desperado That is a great and elegant idea! I'll start working on this asap.
The go pro camera was attached with the 3M adhesive mount that comes with the camera.
I wouldn't recommend it, though, as soon as your board rolls over, the small clips break.
I am thinking of getting some sort of clamp so I can remove when not in use and avoid breaks.
This is really cool. Now I want some Google glasses or something like that so I can see the HUD while I ride.
@poppavein Or on an Android watch...
@poppavein Android wear support for the pOneWheel app is in the horizon.
@gadgetrider Not at the moment.
We do have a fix for it in the oven which should be released soon!
