How will Overcharge protection work with the XR? For riders with homes on hilltops, this might become a huge issue?

RE: Onewheel Plus XR Charge Time? Charger compatibility?
@corlux I agree.
Advertisement should be something along the lines
20 minutes from 0 to 80%
40 minutes to 100%
funny how they just blatantly ignored the false advertisement comment.
All in all, FM isnt the best when it comes to PR, and communication. (They hit home with a product that made them grow way larger than they imagined). Hopefully this is a temporary phase in their life as a company.
Questions regarding engineering of the OW -XR
Dearest Engineer @Julian #website#Frontcoverman .
I know your a busy man, but I was hoping you could shed some light into some engineering decisions governing the XR. We are an incredibly passionate bunch and would love to know what has gone into developing this beast.
What has the biggest challenges been with the new NMC batteries?
Why was the thicker battery area required?
- Is the lower coulomb per cell output the reason?
What is the estimated longevity for the new batteries?
How many cells do you have in parallell/series?
What kind of protection do you have on the battery compartment?
Any information would be super sweet.
RE: OW V1 riding modes / style choices ??
@zwilly So as soon as you get your board, flip it into extreme.
Classic is the biggest flunk ever. It honestly makes things much harder on you.
Of course, if you dont have any kind of self control, and cant stop yourself from riding like a maniac day one, sure pop it on.
FRom my personal experience,I only started learning once I got riding in extreme. Take it easy, and dont ride faster than what your knee wobble lets you.
Furthermore I recommend you always make sure to have the app with you, and having the volume on full blast. Riding the V1 is a bit more extreme, in the sense that foot placement is a bit more critical. Have the phone and app on, so that you know when one of the foot sensors is disengaged.
Advantages of the V1, atleast in my experience, is that it hums a bit more when your redlining it. The feedback allows for much easier throttle feathering at max speed.
all in all -> the V1 is the baby that broke the mould, and for me personally I enjoy it more than the plus.
The plus feels as if your more assisted, V1 is the raw experience.
RE: Won't charge. Won't power up. Flashing...
The onewheel usually powers on when you plug it in, sometimes this causes a "low battery warning", im guessing due to the circuit board getting a bit confused on which reading is what.
I usually solve it with pressing the power button whilst its plugged in.
Give us a bullet list of things youve tried?
Have you plugged in the device and then pressed the power button?
Have you exposed it to water recently?
is the charger port clean and free from debris?
RE: Introducing Onewheel+ XR
@cbr-954rr Hey Cbr. I can promise you, without a shadow of a doubt that (ok maybe some doubt):
A: Charging will probably be higher, maybe starting around the 2 hour mark.
B: As soon as the first boards start shipping out, you will get that answered by the amazing community here.
RE: Introducing Onewheel+ XR
@julian Thanks Julian!
Question of curiosity:
What was the biggest development challenge with the XR?
Was the NMC´s Coulomb rating so low that you had to add more than double the Wh to help it keep up with the liFePo4? what was the driving force behind the decision to make the board thicker by the battery compartment?
