Onewheel hard travel case would be sweet!
-
I would like to suggest to OneWheel that they create a hard travel suitcase for these things at some point. Until then anyone have any ideas about traveling with these? Under your seat in a carry on? I would like to travel with two so my brother can use one. Maybe one carry on and another in a cardboard box (packed well) checked in? Anyone have a better idea?

Hopefully, the OneWheel guys will pop in and say how they transport the things to events.
Technically, you're not supposed to travel with devices having lithium batteries over 100Wh without getting permission from the airline.
You probably won't be able to carry one on. The common carry-on limit for US airlines is 22x14x9. The OneWheel is 30x11x9. Even at an angle, it won't fit any carry-on case.
I wouldn't check it in a cardboard box. Pelican cases are pretty much industry standard for checked baggage. It will fit in a Pelican 1650, with the OneWheel sideways at a diagonal to the case. Two OneWheel will fit in a Pelican 1730 or 1740.

This bag seemed to work great for carry on travel. Wrapped a bath towel around the board (a little extra cushion), set it in and some room to spare. Shoulder strap makes for easy carrying

Do you have pics of it fitting in the Pelican case?

So is the consensus that OW can be carried on to flights as-is, in a bag, or not at all?

There's been a few posts on this alread. Long and short, people have rode them in the airports, been checked out through security without issue unless they made them ride them for fun and brought them on the plane no issue.

@MichaelW
Nice bag 👍👍 any chance you have the link to that? I've got what looks like the same bag, but without the nifty rolling set up.
-
@MichaelW will that fit in overhead? If so that looks perfect.
-
I would buy it. If it was like a Pelican case with wheels but perfectly sized for onewheel and with foam so it wouldn't bang around on airplane, I'd love that
-
Please let me know if and where you find one of those

@Franky @kbern @Docblock The link to my bag... Its a bit bigger than most carry on restrictions but they will often let it on anyway... If not just check it!

This is where I bought mine originally.... Maybe they ship if you tell them the Walmart 30" bag that fits the OneWheel skateboard.

Rolling duffel seems to work great. I went with

Not the smallest, but I like the option to add a few more bulky items like jackets, pads, helmets, etc.
Went with a industrial bubble wrap + 1 inch foam burrito approach. Bungee cords just made it a little easier to wrap and then place into the bag.

Nice bags, guys! I'm considering getting one as well. Is there enough room to put clothes in and use the clothes as padding, this way I can actually use it as a carry on and not need separate luggage for clothes?
