Compare and contrast with other boards

Yep, that's the beauty about OW. It's so versatile.
From smooth cruising, to all terrain to beach riding and more. :)

@Seekwence A town near me prides itself on its miles and miles of bike and running trails that I drive over just to ride on. Most of them are covered in a really fine, almost sandy gravel that has just enough give to make for the best surface I've found so far to get that carvey feeling. Slightly wet grass is also good. I also like double-track or gravel roads that aren't well maintained enough to get that slight crown in the center between wheel ruts; doing S-turns over and across that is pretty satisfying, sort of like "crossing the wake" if you've ever wakeboarded.

@1woman1wheel sweet! Don't be afraid to stand tall a little.
I liked grass for the first couple days just to feel out the motor and push it more than I was capable. But my spot was pretty choice, with grass(nice and smooth and shirt) to pavement transition with ease.
Have fun!
-
@1woman1wheel See if you can find a soccer field to practice on. They are usually very flat and easier than most grass fields. Agree with others though, pavement is the easiest overall.

GUYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSSS @Code-ster is shipping my OneWheel TODAY!!! I can't wait to play with it. I was so excited I couldn't even sleep last night lol
-
@1woman1wheel Yes as difficult as it is to part with the Onewheel, it won't be my last Onewheel. It's most definitely a temporary thing lol. When I saw the video of your first ride and how much fun you were having it sealed it for me. You're going to love this thing!
-
@Code-ster I will name it after you.
-
@1woman1wheel Hahaha yes!
-
@Code-ster For free? Did you score a free OW?
-
i think the best thing the OW has going for it is that as technology improves it will benefit the most
i wish my OW had a slightly higher top speed, longer range, lower wieght and a lower pricetag
all of this will come to pass
powered longboards are already light, fast, and high range which makes them very desireable: but they don't ride like the OW
OW version 2.0 will obliterate the competition, and i for one will be happy to buy it.

Has anyone tried the Leif e snowboard. Looks like fun. But OW looks better for rough terrain. Would like to hear others experience with Leif board

Anyone seen one of the DANDAN D1 boards
http://www.terapeak.com/worth/dandan-d1-one-wheel-electric-skateboard-with-app-control-samsung-battery-2016/351731663947/
Looks interesting, but next to nothing online.
-
@1woman1wheel I def don't think u can take it off road. I looked at it as well but i got the feeling it was chinese garbage. Where the one wheel looks more like a tank. plastic vs aluminum
-
Looks like a pretty piece of junk to me.
-
@MrCamel I've started to notice a few other products going with the large tire since I bought my OW 2 months ago. If I ever get the chance, I'd be interested to compare/contrast. I have zero regrets over my purchase of the OW... although, I bet users of that thing you posted don't get asked, "did you make that?" quite as often!

I certainly hope that future motion takes notice of the form improvements presented by all these knockoffs showing up. The more rounded front and rear on this D1 board is a step in the right direction for the safety of those around, which I think should be completely rounded and with bumpers there to boot in order to do the least damage possible in the inevitable collisions with pets and people that will start showing up more and more as more of the onewheels make it on the road. And the rounded side edge is a big improvement as well as people get shin and ankle cuts from the sharp edge of the current onewheel when it tips over during the beginner two footed dismounts. Tire treads as well might be good to prevent those embarrassing low speed falls where the vega wheel just spins when it encounters those mini curbs or clumps of wet grass.
-
@SeaP90d I let two friends try mine out yesterday and my buddies gf's dismounts had a couple close calls with a shin hit so I can attest to that. The lifting of the heel to disconnect from the sensor is a tough concept to grasp when you're not comfortable even riding the thing yet.
-
@hustle I think shifting the front of your foot 'outside' is way easier to disconnect from the sensor and dismount.
-
@hustle I"ve never thought lifting the heel was the best way to dismount. I found it much easier to just turn your foot to the side (like opening a door where the hinges are the outside edge of your foot). Makes it easier to keep your balance that way.
-
@Polle @thegreck Thank you both! I will try this. Whenever I dismount I'm going so slow that it hasn't been an issue to lift my heel. The hinge method makes more sense, and I noticed my dad @BrianInMN did this.
