Whats your favorite grind / slide protection?

Honestly, I don't feel a board is complete until it's got a pair of McCosker (thefloat.life) float plates. Protect your investment, enjoy some curbs :)
The yellow ones get my vote for most stylish.
-
Agreed.
Also, had the black ones and they were a life saver when I did my 13" tire mod on the V1.
Had some gaps at the bottom and they covered and reinforced the whole thing.

@jeffmccosker . . .

@sonny123 love that diy bucket fender!

I personally have shredded the Jeff pro model float plates, the Stroh dank green and I am now repping the Raequel pros. Massive love for this product!
I started out by attempting to make my own plates and I thought they were ok... until these buttery float plates took it to the next level. The proof is in the pudding. Check it out.

Gets me the "Did you make that?" about 10 times more.. lol...

@sonny123 Yeah, because you kinda did. (which, by the way, is an epic mod and very impressive.)
-
Just wondering: anyone tried plywood plates?
-
Probably provide OK protection from rocks but definitely got a good material for curb sliding. People found an IKEA cutting board that also works well for straight up protection.
That said, my board is taking a beating... some Float Plates will be on order shortly.

Haven't tried Float Plates, but I decided to get the Eight2ten.com A$$ Plates instead. They were cheaper and I liked the bevel edge on them better based on pictures... But mostly they were cheaper
-
@sonny123 Hey I'm thinking about doing this for myself, and you seem to know what you're doing in terms of bucket fenders. Do you have any tips? I have the regular Vega tire.
-
@byromie how do you like the Eight2Ten float plates, I also kind of like the beveled edge, how are they holding up?
-
@donnyeyes I have the eight2ten plates for several months and they do a great job as protecting the OW rails and boxes, but they are not really good for sliding due to the material used. so depends what you plan to do. Sliding = float plates, Offroad protection = A$$ Plates :P
