Most important protectors
-
Hello,
I wanted to know from those who already did some nosedives and other crashes which were the most important protectors for them. I also fell a couple of times - thankfully just at low Speeds and recognized that I never fell on my knees. So now I mostly wear a helmet, elbow,-wrist,-shoulder protectors and some strong gloves. Beside this I often put some diy foam into my pants on the hips.
I now feel a lot better and hopefully if someday a bad nosedive arrives it will be worth the hassle with the protection gear.

I used Pro Designed Inc wrist guards who are hand made by an old skateboarder. They are the best wrist guards I have ever used. I highly recommend them.
G-Form.com has all kinds of board sports padding. I have been looking at the hip pads they sell, but am not sure about how the sizing works.
The best protection, is to ROLL with the fall, don't try and not fall. I fully gear up, and am also very weary of the high speed nose dive. I have only hit 16mph, and that's plenty fast for this guy.
Let's hear what everyone else recommends.

@owpete I already wear helmet, wristguards, elbow guards, knee guards, and padded board shorts under my pants to protect hips/coccyx. But I managed to nosedive & break my bicep/shoulder after 256 miles (on only my 2nd serious wipeout - the other was not a nosedive). I want to add a bicep/shoulder guard to at least my front shoulder (where you may be thrown on nosedive) - does anyone have suggestions for something simple to put on? If it's complicated or hot I probably won't bother.
Right now I am looking at these:

I use this one with helmet, wrist-guard, gloves and a self cut piece of foam which I put under my boxers on my left hip (I am regular).
I hope I will not have to tell you very soon if this is enough...?

@owpete Heh. Probably more than I am looking for. Thanks though!

... and I forget of course to mention that I also wear the shield-vest with the other stuff. Is really quick in and out. Could have maybe safed your shoulder, maybe...
-
@owpete Probably could have helped, but it's very hot where I live and a full jacket's or vest's not usually practical for me. But I appreciate it!

Get pads designed specifically for falling sideways onto the ground at 10 to 15 mph: http://a.co/5lOFo7c
You might look a little ridiculous..

@desperado Don't think I haven't considered it! But I look ridic enough as it is with my gear.
