Pint charging port cover DIY
-
I replaced my first charge port cover remedy (blue painters tape) with a rubber stopper bought at Lowe’s and cut to size. Not an elegant solution, but works fine, and hasn’t fallen out after 25 miles. Cost a dollar. Pix below.
Anybody found a better solution? Float on!

What are the plugs that OW makes made out of? Cause in all honesty I might do what you’ve done.
-
@DashinglyHunter TBH I believe they're just 3D printed
-
@DashinglyHunter not sure, but my reason was cause the charging port has no cover, and some rides get dirty. Believe someone made an aftermarket charge port cover for the plus and XR, but it doesn’t fit the pint. This was a tapered rubber stopper from Lowe’s, cut (imperfectly) to size. Keep calm and Float on!

@a_onekatie I have access to a 3D printer, if I cant find a model for one, I’ll have to take some measurements
-
I bought this one from Etsy, perhaps you can use as a basis? https://www.etsy.com/listing/728019139/onewheel-pint-charging-port-protection?ref=landingpage_similar_listing_top-1
There's another version w/out the keyring as well. Shop owner is on vacation until next week, just FYI
-
@a_onekatie like it! Looks way better than my wonky fix.
-
@a_onekatie Now if I could find the files for that to print it, and a way to match my coral fenders I got, I think it’d look nice.
-
@DashinglyHunter maybe when he's back next week you could ask how much he'd charge to sell you his specs?
-
@a_onekatie I’ll have to see. Might do a bit of looking around on thingiverse.
-
i bought the same one @a_onekatie has, and the guy was really great to work with. i ordered mine before he had his Pint, and he had assumed they were going to be the same size & configuration as the other models, but when i got it i realized it is not. he was very apologetic, and when he received his Pint so he could get proper measurements he sent me 3 of them for my trouble. since they are only $6 each, i wasn't upset by the wait at all, and to get three of them for the price of one was super nice of him.

Why not just get the official ones? https://onewheel.com/collections/pint-accessories/products/pint-charger-plugs. (This should have been included, though :-( )
-
@RonZon I’d rather be able to make my own, and be able to make mine one of a kind. And the Etsy one linked above, (if it’s free shipping) costs 6$, while fI’m you buy one off of the website, you have to pay for shipping, which brings the total to about 8$, and they don’t offer free shipping for just the plug.

@DashinglyHunter
Here is one option: Pint Charge Port PlugI made one with a tunnel on the cap head to allow for a small key ring. Makes for easier removal.
-
@McFloaty I want to try plumbing end cap, available in plastic, I need to pay a visit there and let you know! otherwise, this is a great idea! thanks for sharing!
-
@LidPhones I'll have to save that till when I actually can get my board, and I wonder if I could add like an o-ring that sits in the plug to keep it extra snug in there, and more water tight.
-
@DashinglyHunter
Got ya! I would think adding an o-ring into a radial groove close to the cap section is possible in a design. I tend to stay away from deep standing water so it does the job for keeping debris out...

This post is deleted!
-
@LidPhones Yeah, I don’t plan to, and I quote, “YEET” my OneWheel into a lot of water, or big puddles. Just thought the O-Ring could be an added measure of protection.

Just tried the $1 rubber stopper and it seems to fit very snugly! If FM ever does free shipping, I'll buy a couple of their plugs, but the shipping makes me cringe for a $2 part. I'm too used to "free" Amazon shipping.
