    • RE: Security and Anti-Theft Features.

@UTrider thanks for your input. But im still hoping to get some optimistic and constructive feedback here rather than just focusing on how none of these suggestions can be done. And ANY feature is better than none. ANYTHING to deter someone from looking at a onewheel as an “easy steal”. So pincode is one of them, the app can even use Face ID from the phone to unlock the board.

FYI there are gps modules that are small enough to consider. You don't have to build your own module from scratch. Like i said these are ideas and im looking for more constructive ideas. Ideally i’d love for OW to invest in some simple security features in the least.

And honestly if security is not an issue for you, then don’t worry about it. Just scroll by and explore other threads. Cheers.

    • Security and Anti-Theft Features.

I recently bought a Pint to use as my mode of transportation and fun machine. However as im starting to use it more and more im becoming concerned with security.

Let me put it this way: I’m riding around the city, with a head turning, $1k device under my feet. Other OWs are even more expensive up to 2k. So what keeps a thief from stealing this whenever they get the chance? Or simply robbing it from me? OW! As much as you want to advertise it as a fun device, you’ve designed an expensive vehicle with absolutely no security features! At least bikes can be looped and locked with a chain.

Yes you can design a physical onewheel lock and sell it to us, BUT, why not work with what you have now?
We need a couple of solid security features:

Bluetooth pairing with a user defined passcode:
The board should require a pin on the app so that when I’m not physically near my board, it is locked and practically a brick.

      Internal USB/power outlet
To supply power to third party GPS devices installed within the frame of the board. Ive been looking into installing an actual gps device inside the board, but don't want to unscrew the board every two weeks just to charge the device.

Lastly, what if my onewheel is stolen today?
Can you guys find it the moment it is turned on and connected? Would you be able to provide any information to us? This area really needs to be worked on as i read more and more about stolen OWs or children playing with their parent’s OW when they’re not home. Or people asking to “test ride” and never come back. Please take this seriously and discuss.

      Sincerely,
      a onewheel lover.

    • RE: Anti theft

@a_onekatie Amen! We need a security pin in the app. The OW should basically become inoperable if the pin is not inserted. Or if pairing is added, it can freeze if the paired device is not in range. THEY NEED TO ADD BLUETOOTH PAIRING! The app and software design has a bunch of flaws. @onewheel please address them!

@Franko as far as ive researched, tiles aren't a great way to track your OW. they fit Inside perfectly but they work with bluetooth, which if stolen, may or may not give you great tracking data. There are gps devices you can get but they are a bit more pricey, ($25-$150 and some with additional monthly charge). BUT, they have actual real time satellite tracking features. Which you can basically take to the police station and have them live track it to get to the thief.
