@LidPhones -- A thaw has made riding springlike! And yes, I am #12 right on your heel -- if you glitch, I take your place.

Like hibernating bears Onewheel riders must be waking up and relinking their boards. In the past week or so I have gone from #36 to #37 to #38 to #40 now, at the moment on my Plus -- even with lately having logged a couple hundred miles.

RE: Watching Action on the Leaderboards
@Lia -- So fast and furious was the action on the V1 Daystreak Leaderboard that I probably did not keep up with the blizzard. Besides the eight riders you mention, I saw thirteen others make appearances on the board -- only five whose names I recognized from past weeks. That's at least twenty-one riders placing in one single week!

Crossover points -- Ranked 37 at 37 hundred-some miles on a Plus. (The 37 day streak is coincidental and unrelated.) In the post above rank 36 was at 36 hundred-some miles. The bar is rising -- at this rate when I get up to 38 hundred miles I will be ranked 38!

@HanahsDax -- Indeed, FranKtheTanK is a long time SERIOUS DISTANCE RIDER who I am in awe of!
And you, HanahsDax, are a long time SERIOUS STREAK RIDER who I am also in awe of!

RE: Watching Action on the Leaderboards
@LidPhones -- I will be very curious to see the fit of a 2.5 ah EGO in or on the tail of a Onewheel. If it is workable, I would be up for trying it.
A word of caution, as you probably know, take care in the parallel hook-up. Adjusting the straps holding two EGO batteries to my fender, one battery fell out of its pronged connector, the prongs of which arced and shorted on my aluminum rail -- saved from major damage by the internal fuse of the EGO. But then I had to dismantle the EGO with the blown fuse and solder in a replacement.
Now, using two EGO batteries I use friction-fit stays holding the connectors tightly in their respective batteries.

RE: Onewheel cheap mods
Snow builds up thickly against my leading foot, and covering the wheel, causing friction and sometimes even freezing the wheel to locked. An idea I have that may reduce the snow build-up is to get a battery-powered, clip-on fan mounted on the rail to blow away the snow as the wheel kicks it up. Maybe I am grasping at straws. Opinions? Think it would help?
On the positive side, a powerful 8" battery-powered fan on its highest setting would likely blow much of the snow away before the snow could land on my leading leg or on the tire -- I have watched the trajectory of the snow thrown by the tire up and forward.
On the negative side it would be extra wind-chill on my trailing leg. Snow and ice might build up on the fan itself interfering with the blades, or chilling the battery. The weight all on one rail might be uncomfortable -- 1.7 lbs. Will the clip hold? Will the tilt adjustment stay put in the outdoor winds of forward motion? Is the fan waterproof, or at least water resistant? And how will the fan respond to a tip-over?
Hmmm... The potential negatives seem to be outweighing the positives. Still, it might be worth a try. I could put extra insulation in the pantleg, and on the fan's battery. Maybe a shroud to deflect incoming snow, and a stay to hold the tilt. The reviews say the clip is plenty strong. Maybe a counterweight on the other rail? And no tip-overs. Ha! I want to try it, but it seems risky for the $40.

RE: Watching Action on the Leaderboards
@LidPhones -- I am curious about your hot-swap technique. With my V1 I can hot-swap because I removed the onboard battery and BMS entirely, so the EGO is the only power. You have another option?

RE: Watching Action on the Leaderboards
@LidPhones -- For great torque reserves on a V1 (or a Plus), parallel in an EGO battery -- the bigger the better.

RE: Watching Action on the Leaderboards
@Lia -- Sputtering out! This is the first I have ever seen a Onewheel rider on the Leaderboard with a single day's ride. Two and three day streaks are pathetic, too -- although it is kind of fun, almost just owning a V1 can give a person a claim to fame.

With a streak of ONE SINGLE DAY a V1 rider achieved entry onto the Daystreak Leaderboard!

RE: CHALLENGE = Match or Exceed Your Birthday Years In Distance (Miles/ Kilometers) On Your Birthday (or close to your birthday)!
@LidPhones -- True. Envy the hours and miles I have with my Onewheels at age 68!

@LidPhones -- Not really the best weather for streaking, but I am right behind you one place in the Onewheel Plus line-up.

RE: CHALLENGE = Match or Exceed Your Birthday Years In Distance (Miles/ Kilometers) On Your Birthday (or close to your birthday)!
Not in a day, this week though.
Notable Onewheel achievements in my own eyes:
-Matching mileage to serial number as posted above;
-A 5000 mile daystreak in 280 days last year on my V1, averaging over 16 miles per day including through the several months of Northeast Ohio snowbelt winter.
-And in a comment about how easy it is to learn to ride a Onewheel to a new prospective rider by another local rider, pointing to me "...see, ANYBODY can do it..." -
RE: Watching Action on the Leaderboards
Hi @Lia -- Action on the V1 Daystreak continues with six more names beyond your chart, on and off during this week 6: Joberg8340, @kevinharpertime, Wesley, erikondecc, Wewe, and Reid Litster. Only three days of riding to gain entry to the V1 Daystreak Leaderboard in some cases this week! And another rider making the board two times in a single week! Thank goodness for stability at the top!

RE: Onewheel cheap mods
Not the prettiest, but functional. For cold weather riding I wrapped the tail in closed cell foam especially to keep the icy snow-slush from building up on the underside and chilling the battery. Then I had a problem with slippery soles on the smooth plastic -- especially in mounting with the steeper angle of the lift kit. So, my cheap solution was to ratchet strap a piece of floor-sanding paper on top of the foam -- worked great!
(Edit: After riding with this a few days I made an important change -- the center straight stretch of ratchet strap lacked the tension to hold the makeshift grip tape for the long term, so I started wrapping a replacement piece of grip all the way over the corners -- and the strap now holds it securely in place.)
Wrapping the grip over the corners is better:
