    • RE: XR Charging system and plug?

@kbman Interesting thought. I am rooting for charger cross-compatibility regardless of different battery chemistry. Electrons in - electrons out. It would be so much better for FM to use a battery that can be charged with the same voltage even thought the chemistry and capacity were different.

    • RE: Really looking forward to XR and fewer nosedives

A nosedive is simply what happens when the motor can not produce enough torque to counteract the force of the rider's forward lean. The Onewheel desperately wants to keep us upright but has a finite amount of torque (no matter your foot position). Your center of gravity is slightly forward of the axle as you maintain cruising speed no matter where your feet are. Imagine a line straight down from your spine to the axle. When you ride uphill this line moves forward. Steeper means even farther forward. When this line reaches a certain point, the motor simply cannot produce enough power to keep you upright. A motor with 10% more torque (as FM claims for the XR) will have 10% more torque available to try to keep the rider upright and resist against the pressure applied. Even when a nosedive occurs, its not because the motor stopped trying, it just because it couldn't fight any harder. Keep it smooth and within the motor's comfortable capabilities and you will be fine. Cross the line and you become separated from the board. Period.

    • XR Charging system and plug?

Anyone heard if the XR will have a different charging system and/or plug? I am working on a solar charging system for when we go camping and have the + all figured out with help from Ian over at carvepower.com (such a rad and smart guy). Hoping the XR is similar - at least the same plug...

    • RE: Quick pivots and turning

@510-1-whl about 7 miles! I knew I wanted more "instability" out of a tire! If you are a boardsports person, I really believe the Vega is too flat and stable to fully enjoy the one wheel. FM uses it so the most people can enjoy the Onewheel right out of the box. Any tire with a little roundness to the profile is better. I will be putting on the Hoosier 6.5 D30 for the summer once we are out of snow season here in the High Country of Colorado.

    • RE: How cold is too cold?

Probably the cold. I wouldn't sweat it. Next winter get a grippy Hoosier. Its a blast - way more "unstable" and way more fun.

    • RE: Extreme Temperatures?

My 5.5" wide Hoosier D20 compound rubber loves the cold and stays very pliable down below -20C here in Colorado. Some run the Vega in the cold. I do not. Remember that sidewall rubber is just a protective skin and should not affect performance at the low pressures and speed we run on the Onewheel. Go carts are a different story.

    • RE: How cold is too cold?

I have ridden mine a buch in the snow and cold here in Colorado. -20C is probably the coldest I have run. I have the Hoosier 5.5 in the D20 (second softest) compound and I run low air (15lbs) for good ice and snow grip. So far it has worked fantastically with no issues. I would not run the Vega in these conditions but I hear some folks do. I plan on running the 6.5 Hoosier in the D30 for the Summer. Remember, too, that the sidewall rubber is just a skin and won't affect the handling or performance noticeably on a tire with low pressure and speeds like we run on Onewheels. Go carts would be a slightly different story. As far as battery life - cold weather sucks, PERIOD. Some have actually taped hand warmer packs under the battery and had good results. I can get just over 5 miles on a charge when temps are below freezing.

    • RE: Carving on One Wheel vs. Boosted Board

To me, its kinda like comparing apples and oranges. They both get you somewhere but the way they get you there is soooooo different. Its hard to beat the experience of a OW. You simply THINK about where you want to go and it happens. Boosted is just an electric skateboard. I've skated and snowboarded for over 30 years and the OW is its own unique experience completely. OW carving is like slo-mo carving a snowboard in powder on low pitch terrain. Boosted is an electric skateboard.

    • RE: Quick pivots and turning

@wheelcity and I will probably always disagree on the tire selection "debate". We both speak earnestly from our personal experience. A big part of handling preference comes from your background - snowboarding, skateboarding, skiing, rugby, checkers, whatever... your natural athletic tendencies, or lack thereof makes a big difference in what feels "right" to each rider. The Vega is the EASIEST tire to Onewheel on. That's why it comes stock. FM wants happy, safe customers.

    • RE: Riding in the cold

On the coldest days. just tape one of those cheap handwarmers on the bottom of the battery. It actually works!

Sooooo... after many plugging and unpluggings, it finally turned on and read 100% charged. I went and rode 'til it wouldn't go another inch. Charged back up in 30 minutes and seems completely healthy now. I am happy but my trust is a little shaken... thanks for all the suggestions, people!

    • RE: Quick pivots and turning

Best way to turn is to get a different tire. The Vega is just a dog. I can turn about a 2 ft radius with the 5.5 Hoosier. About 4ft radius with the Vega. I know why FM went with the Vega - ITs so stable and anyone can ride it. Maneuverable it is not. A rounder tire requires no "torquing" just more angle.

@mtruby82 Tried that, she powers up when I plug the AC in and lights come on. App shows plugged in but 00% battery, diagnostics show all batts at 0.0. Nothing happens when I push start button. Unplug, no lights at all. Push button - nothing.

@drn3rd First question, YES. No effect.
Second - No evidence of water in any of the cases.
      Third - all clean

Thanks for taking the time to try to help!

    • Won't charge. Won't power up. Flashing...

My Onewheel+ is acting weird. First, it did not want to power up until plugged into charger. Now it doesn’t want to power down until plugged into the charger.
Now I took it off the charger and it won’t power up. Then I plug it in and it flashes 15 times.
Unplug, no power up, then re-plug and 4 flashes.
App reads 52%, then it reads 00%, warning comes up for 10% battery left then 54% then 00%.
Now the app reads 00% but plugged in.
Unplug, re-plug and now it powered up with no button push and app reads 00% and plugged in.
Unplug and it powers off by itself. Won’t power up. Re-plug, powers up automatically.
Been on charger for 30 minutes, still 00%.
In addition it has always had difficulty staying connected via Bluetooth.

      Has 39 miles on it.

      Does it have epilepsy?

    • RE: First One Wheel

@ventoriffic Is right on with advice concerning ride style. I had a nosedive in my first 30 miles trying to be "powerful", lucky to run it out but developed respect for the limitations of the system. KEEP it CHILL, especially up any incline. Like snowboarding in deep powder - small and gentle inputs.
