I'm about to send mine back. Will be under warranty they said. I heard of quite a few people who had their board back and it works very good after.

RE: Nosedive on flat path. Crash #3.
@tomfoolery I have the feeling the wheel does move freely after a nosedive, as I read another poster has this (kind of funny) problem: When he has a nosedive going up a particular hill and eats it, his onewheel sometimes just rolls back down the hill by itself so fast that he can't catch it.

RE: XR constantly losing app connection?
Same issue here like everyone: Brand new XR, hardware 4208, cannot keep BT connection. Only works when the phone is right next to the board. The effect : Cannot track rides, cannot get battery warning, cannot easily change ride modes... its pretty annoying for such a expensive machine!
Must be hardware related cos it works for when I hold the phone very close, so the radio signal is not transmitted effectively. Could be poor antenna, or a bad Bluetooth chip. In any case: Doesn't look like its easy/economical to fix (in the production line), since new boards still have this problem. Maybe the main controller boards all have this issue and they got thousands of them produced already.

RE: Manually shutoff during riding
haha, I wondered about exactly the same. Just installed my fangs and wanted to practice a failure event. At low speed I was able to crouch down and press the button and it actually worked well. But i don't dare yet at regular speed..I think due to crouch position its harder to stay on

RE: Runaway OneWheel - Critical Problem
Interesting, so, normally when the OW is on and you try to move the wheel its very hard to roll and it would never roll down a hill without you on it, but you are saying after a nosedive (with the OW still on) this motor brake is disengaged? Or has the OW shut off?
The only thing I can think off is that they designed it like this because after a high speed Nosedive , if the wheel locked up you would then always eat it, but with the wheel moving freely you can maybe stay on it for a while longer to decelerate (especially with Fangs) , or even stay on until coming to a stop

RE: Nosedive on flat path. Crash #3.
@Glyph I agree, we cannot know all the numbers, esp not how many are sold but I wanted to have a picture of roughly what % of ND seems unprovoked and that I have now. It makes me ride even more careful and alert which is a good thing

RE: Nosedive on flat path. Crash #3.
Fully understand that ND can happen at low speeds because of sudden acceleration, incline or bump in the road or a combination. But I still believe some are due to hardware issues, because: At least 4 low speed ND respondents have reported the OW was turned OFF after the ND. That alone is quite worrying, its 4 out of 72 cases (what I don't know is if all or some of these are from the same person, that would skew the stats of course).
Another 6 low to medium speed respondents reported they were travelling constant speed (no acceleration) on level ground: also bit of a worry. So its not really true to say its always due pushing on the gas too hard or going uphill

RE: Nosedive on flat path. Crash #3.
I don't get how someone in this thread has gone 1200 miles without these issues, and then some people come down hard multiple times at going just 15 mph. In my Nose Dive survey there are even 17 riders that were dropped at < 10mph.
For these low speed crashes I have the feeling it might indeed be down to intermittent hardware issues of individual boards (assuming most users have upgraded to latest firmware ). At low speeds there should be plenty of power available to balance the rider, especially on the XR.

RE: OW Owners: Injury Survey
@Glyph Absolutely, the interpretation is totally up to the viewer. With statistics the conclusions are never straight forward and need some thinking about, feel free to list all your caveats, no offence taken :).
Questions like the rider weight or the riding mode are there to find out if perhaps a less likely answer has the most hits, for example, wouldn't it be interesting if ONLY very heavy riders have ND, or ONLY Delirium mode or so.
But even then the data can give some interesting clues and I already found some surprises that I did not expect, for example:
- Majority of N-Dives are at 0-15 mph. This is a surprise, as I thought its mainly the high speeders that have this.
- Most people don't feel pushback.
- Most N-Dives are with an XR (could it be the XR is now the most sold board..and simply more abundant? I don't know but would not have thought so as its more expensive, AND i thought less prone to ND because of more power to the motor)
- Most people hurt themselves. I would have thought that its possible to outrun it quite often, esp at lower speeds

RE: OW Owners: Injury Survey
Hi. I have tried to put together a small survey for people that have experienced nosedives to better understand the conditions that are leading to them. It might help new riders (like me) to assess the risks riding this thing and to work out what are the common factors for people that have had this happen to them. Please take the survey if you have had a nosedive experience (if you havn't already done so - I also posted on F-book) . You can fill in the form multiple times for multiple nosedives.
The survey results are also public, anyone is welcome to have a look here:
