I don't know if im lucky but more than a few times ive tipped the nose too far forward in elevated. It didnt jet off thankfully. The motor didnt engage. Then It wouldnt go when I tried to get back on twice to balance. If I wouldve had a new pressure pad it wouldve been spinning off somewhere. I hope they work on perfecting the pad because it works great after 100 miles or so. It seems like it does need a break in period. Im not the first to notice that obviously, but just confirming it from my experience.

RE: I think I want to ride the onewheel too fast
I just rode mine and was speeding around in elevated mode. I could feel it dipping as i approached the limit, and I had time to lean back and let off. Keeping my bearings oiled has stopped the bucking when you let off. This might be what lurches you forward. You do need to maintain these things to a certain degree. After every ride I brush mine off with a cheap paint brush on the rims. Or if theres dirt I use a wipe so that its clean when I ride it next. I also wipe the sidewalls and use tire protectant which has uv protectant in it.

RE: Back on the proverbial horse (AKA Onewheel)!
@McFly
You can only get better, the more you ride. Slowly the fear will fade.
I think Yoda said that! -
RE: increase the speed
@sonny123
Also when its leaning against the wall with 60% left you dont want to charge it until you use that last 30%. You gotta go for a short ride and use that precious juice. You cant let the juice go to waste!!! -
RE: Any differences between a 2015 vs 2016 model?
The 2016 model comes with a cupholder.

RE: Beach Riding - Yes or No
Beach riding? Heck no. Since spraying water on it is not an option.
I would say yes if I won the lottery, in which case I would own at least 5 of these things. and I would buy one for some schools in the area, and they could have a Onewheel club. You could have a set amount of people in each class and a ten minute limit to cruise around. Since it charges quick you could get another 10 minute ride after you wait your turn. -
RE: Is there anything that needs routine cleaning or oiling/maintenance?
@thegreck @hustle @mark62
No problem,Thanks for the nudge to clarify the procedure. I hope it keeps everyone rolling past 1000 miles.
Also, make sure you brush the bearing off with a paint brush or a soft brush beforehand. I forgot that step. -

The bearings are orange and on the center portion of the wheel.
You can oil in 2 spots. You will see the line going around it. This is where to apply the oil. Get it in the groove, Its going to protect the bearings from water and help them roll smoother. When I need to clean mine I use the Skanunu cleaner/lube which is orange. Then I'll run it for a mile and wipe around the bearing. But make sure you apply the regular oil without cleaners which is clear after that step. Or just use 3 in 1 oil which has anti rust additives and is cheap and canbe found at your local wally world. Don't overdue it though. I have never had any issues after 200 miles. I was concerned at first that it might find its way to the motor but I doubt it would since I havent had any malfunctions. Start with 1 or 2 small drops and let it run around the groove of the bearing. See the photo for points to apply the lube.
The groove on the right is almost covered by the plastic rim but its there. Theyre just like the skateboard bearings only twice the size -
RE: Is there anything that needs routine cleaning or oiling/maintenance?
I always oil my bearings after 3 or 4 rides. You can use a small amount, (2 drops)and then ride it and you feel the difference. I reccomend the thin stuff like Skanunu or Bones speed cream. Check youtube for application videos on skateboards. If I had a boosted board I would definately oil the motor bearings. If you have 3 in 1 oil that would be fine. Whatever is thin and will protect from rust. I put some 3 in 1 on my elliptical bearings (theres 12 total)and it seemed to work better than the skate lubes. Its alot cheaper too.

RE: Post high speed here! OWheelbuddy app
@dirtyjersey
I bought a tablet just to use the android app and wish I wouldve waited for this app. I wanted to see the total miles and thats the only reason. But the apple one light function works and the android app doesn't. I think android is like microsoft. They make you keep buying hardware to run the newer software.
