@UTrider not even a wipeout. Had to bail then it just rolled sideways 1 1/2 times down a pretty steep hill.. this happens. I like the pint fender much more. I just snap it on, no screws needed, so it pops off instead. Its much tougher too it rolled just like the XR but even off a curb and it bounced in the air off the fender rather than cracking..

@speedracer Could be water damage or even a little water on the circuit board. The seals and the battery tray on the XR are not acceptable. This needs to be public knowledge.
Honestly the XR is not very well executed, not like the pint....When you have the XR apart vs pint. XR seems very cheap. Like it was a school project or something. Feels thrown together and super cheaply made, except for the rails are CNCed, wow! $1800 should be titanium and a CF back bumper.
I would carefully take it apart and look for corrosion after taking the crap warping battery tray off carefully inspect the silicone. You will see evidence of a good seal. If you see any dirt or water marks, its bad. Heres what my bad one looked like..notice it has missed the lip of the crappy tray and a debris track where water came in is evident. Sad to say there is no seal there at all because some goober misplaced the thing by 2 or 3 mm. Sad.
This is what $1800 gets you in 2020, i guess..
In fact, water was in there for weeks while i was using it causing it to act very weird. Then after riding on heavily salted roads i gave it a good hose down and it did not respond after wiping it off. WTF!
Pretty sure the pOnewheel app saved my XR. I noticed a battery temp reading of close to 150F and immediately took everything apart and dryed it out with fans. Im good with electronics so I didn’t think twice about removing the warranty stickers plus it was about to catch fire possibly....(little did i know that those stickers are actually ILLEGAL now, wtf, Future Motion??!)
I made sure everything was dry and careful cleaned off green corrosion making sure i had everything in exactly the right place. I took a video of taking it apart first time(for warranty) so this was easy. The power and battery issue was solved and the only issue was my front light was strobing and it would speed up depending on speed which was cool built it eventually stopped working at all.
RE: New Pint not charging to 100 percent.
@bataleon send it back or exchange it. Make them pay for shipping. They send out bad units, shame.
New owners should probably take their unit apart and check seals and that sensitive areas are protected if they know what they’re doing. A good time for this would probably be after 10 months ownership then if you’re unit has water damage like mine and they will hopefully fix it if under warranty. VIDEO TAPE THIS PROCESS so they cant say someone opened it and damaged it like they tryed with me. REMOVING THE STICKER CANNOT VOID WARRANTY...As of 2018. This is law.
Shoddy quality of overpriced accessories
My fender broke on the first wipe out i had screws on. Thats $80 down the drain even though that thing costs $3 to make.
2 severed cables one that erupted i flames and could have real hurt me or worst. There was a short, lucky i was there.
Lower the damn prices on this garbage plastic or make good products, please...
RE: Onewheel Has Become Slower on Hills
@ktheorin1 hi. Something like this happened to my unit. There was water inside of it.
It only had about 50% of battery capacity at that time, it would go from 70% to 14% then die very quickly. I opened it and put fans on it making sure everything thing was dry. There was green corrosion on the CPU that i had to use a copper brush on. I DISREGARDed the WARRANTY STICKERS as they are ILLEGAL as of 2 years ago..big 🖕🏽 to FM for still trying to use these..
Im gonna make a post about the faulty seal to call attention to this issue and pressure Future Motion to improve the battery tray and seal on the XR because its a joke. I have no commitment to FM, their customer service and sense of responsibility and accountability will be biting them in the ass soon. For the money the make kinda shoddy product. Take the XR apart then see if you don’t agree with me.
EVERY XR OWNER SHOULD CHECK THE SILICONE SEAL FOR DAMAGE AND LEAKAGE!!!!
And thats why a freaking ONE YEAR WARRANTY is an absolute joke!!
RE: Unknown water damage, consequences, lack of proper warranty service.
@gasbreakdipper i forgot to add that Future Motion did offer to fix issues from the water damage, a blown front light strip and the obvious bad silicone seal for $60 or something but i felt at their mercy since i voided the warranty. Honestly I couldn’t trust that they wouldnt try to charge me more money and send back a non working board or basically hold it “hostage” for a extended period of time after the stories ive heard. How many people have water damage and will not know till problems arise and the warranty is over??
Which is why those stickers are ILLEGAL and I really why Future Motion is still using them?! You guys dont make a good enough product for me not to be able to take it apart and dry the circuit board off if i go out in heavy rain, im sorry. But really you guys at Future Motion should be...smh
Unknown water damage, consequences, lack of proper warranty service.
I have been meaning to call attention to this MAJOR issue in the assembly of the XR.
I bought a XR last May ‘19, it made my summer a blast. When the wet weather came i was a bit worried about the waterproofing on the XR. With the wood decks and stuff it sure doesn’t look like the designers have any idea of what kinda of nastiness will be thrown at this thing in places like my neck of the woods up here in the PNW.
The water damage was not noticeable to me at first, but it was obvious something was malfunctioning because the battery would go from 60 or 70 % to 10% then die SUPER QUICK. The customer service team did not do their due service in getting it fixed, all they said was: send it in, if they find a problem they will pay shipping and if they don’t i am screwed and stuck with a $80 shipping fee. I could not tell what was wrong with it and trusted that they would not either so i kept riding it till one night after the roads were heavily salted and wet, i had to spray it down pretty good to get the salt off and a few minutes later after drying it, it was dead(i had waterproof port cap and made sure the connection was dry). I turned on the pOnewheel app on an old android phone and had a battery temp reading of over 150 and immediately knew the battery case had been breached, it was hot to the touch..
So what Future Motion wanted me to do was then package up thing in a box that night(at the risk of burning down a 40 unit building with like 100 people it...!!) RIDICULOUS!!!!
I immediately whipped out my phone and started recording as i was voiding my warranty but didn’t really have a choice. Taking apart the XR was super easy an unimpressive. I was immediately disgusted with the cheap warping plastic trays, the edges need re-enforcing.
The silicone seal was eaten away where dirt and sand hit it. There was a debris track were much water had come in right above the cable port. The seal on the battery encasement was jus t a little off but the silicone was cut so sparingly that it made my XR a lemon. There was corrosion in all the places where basically the circuits cannot air out. I was shocked and pissed because this was why my unit was malfunctioning all along. Where is our recourse here? They are abusing their power with the crappy 1year warranty, IMO. What is that anyways??!! For the pint maybe 2 years the XR at LEAST 3 years would be reasonable. Actually getting service should be easy too. Lets get real here.
Its like these guys feel DO NOT feel enough of a sense of responsibility to the safety of their riders and that really worries me.
But part of me knows if this thing wasn’t so dangerous, it would hardly be as fun...
RE: Pint Bluetooth issues?
@OneDan i have been very vocal with them but the issue is that Future Motion seems to be ok with inferior parts that just make the cut being that they currently have a bit of a monopoly here. They probably have 100,000 more of these cheapo transmitters to dump on us before they even think about changing things. They are aware. They do not seem that responsible...
