RE: my first minutes on a one wheel with.. one arm and one foot !
I showed my friend that then he did this >>
RE: FM's redesigned fender is bombproof!
I molded it right onto the board over the magnets so where it overlaps the deck it is very snug. It stays on thru small to medium rollovers.
The magnets inside the fender feet are two .5" wide neodymium stacked in each foot
To build, I began by building up a spacer mold right over top the onewheel with cardboard and painters tape. Then I snugly covered the whole thing in plastic wrap and layered fiberglass matte right on the plastic. Yada ya, sanding, beers, drying, trimming, quick spray. Ready to rock. And deflect tiny rocks
RE: to charge or not to charge
This isn't precisely the pompous of all articles related but here >>
Make sure when you're researching that u pay attention to whether or not ur reading about LiPo or LiFePo
We have LiFePo.. Different
LiPo is inherently more unstable because = chemistry.
Future Motion chose LiFePo because it's waaay more safe and reliable. It also pretty much doesn't care when you charge it. Just to be polite to everything around me, I dont rush to the charger after any ride. It's not necessary to. I can park it, wait for the rain to dry and ride again sans charge. It takes less than 30 to charge anyhow. Worst comes to worse, shut your face, plug her in and piddle around the forum for a bit
A failure to plan is a plan to fail
In driver's Ed they taught to always expect the other driver to do the wrong thing. I use that every drive.
In Electrical work I teach people, when dealing with ANY wires to always expect them to be hot, even after testing to be dead.
Moral of the tangent: always keep present in your mind and muscles the possibility of an instant, unexpected and abrupt dumping of the rider at all times while you are considered the rider.
This 99.6 percently happens over the frontal and it's not pleasant. By becoming into this mindset, you shall be prepared as best you can to "run it out" or at least "tuck n roll".
Never forget that you ARE in fact on the most complex electric skateboard in the world right now.. bear with it..
I see no obstacle preventing larger sensor pads. it seems most of the time my board cuts off it's simply because my foot found its way completely off both sensor pads while i'm still riding.
They shall be compatible with the boards as is. Easy peasy. I'd buy a deck w larger sensors today. And don't go raising the price either, this is only an improvement. Scrap the old ones. Just make them bigger now. Thanks
RE: Onewheel towing a trailer!
I recently went to a festival and used my board to haul my collapsible wagon and all my camping gear from my car down to my site which would have otherwise been a good 15 minute walk one way. Made two trips and blew so many minds. Cruised pass dozens of bipedal suckers lusting after my fifth wheel. Beautiful
RE: Order of operation when connecting charger to Onewheel
@r1alvin i always plug into my board and then into the wall because I noticed the aggressive arc that occurs when I plug into the wall then my board. my father makes batteries for the us government and knows metal chemistry well. He suggests the same procedure. The charger will be fine either way. The metal at the terminals on the XLR connection points is thin enough to potentially wear out before the battery. slim chance but we are invested nerds and preserving any physical part is a plain old good idea.
As to why they suggest the opposite in the manual, simply overlooked theory by FM. Logically it would seem linear but considering techy techy tech, I do this.
RE: Kickstarter Launched! Never Carry Your One Wheel Again
It is suggested and common to ride with the sensors in front, battery in back. I ride ride that way because I have less instances not covering the pad riding at low speed through rugged terrain. I know many other riders do as well.
Could you also put wheels on the handle bumper? The rolling nosedive effect is absolutely helpful for sure
RE: The "other" one wheel
Never been on one but I do have eyeballs. It's got only one wheel and it's battery powered other than that no comparison. Just watch a video of someone riding one and, even if you're all alone, someone will pop in to make fun of the jackass in the video. Those things are just silly. Even if you could drop off a picnic table and ride out, no one would be friends with you
RE: Have you done any customization or any modification? Post pictures!
Changed my grip tape and scraped away the VEGA with a razorblade to reveal a white oval. Also the protective gorilla tape gives it that garage tinkerer look. 3 people asked if I made it so far
RE: Odometer Total Miles...how many do you have?
Careful.. In the description of that phone it says it runs Android 4.0. Text support says you need 5.0 and above. Same problem I just had with an LG Lucid 2. You likely cannot update past that on the budget brick yall lookin at
