That is good advice to pass along, people generally don't realize they're balancing on a knife edge when going up hill fast until it bites them, and doing this increases the margin for error.

RE: Beach Riding - Yes or No
I used to ride on the beach but no more, had bad nose dive fall on the way back, board locked up at speed and stayed that way. Sent in for repair and reason given was water got into control module.

RE: Compare and contrast with other boards
I certainly hope that future motion takes notice of the form improvements presented by all these knockoffs showing up. The more rounded front and rear on this D1 board is a step in the right direction for the safety of those around, which I think should be completely rounded and with bumpers there to boot in order to do the least damage possible in the inevitable collisions with pets and people that will start showing up more and more as more of the onewheels make it on the road. And the rounded side edge is a big improvement as well as people get shin and ankle cuts from the sharp edge of the current onewheel when it tips over during the beginner two footed dismounts. Tire treads as well might be good to prevent those embarrassing low speed falls where the vega wheel just spins when it encounters those mini curbs or clumps of wet grass.

RE: Double footpads or always at on avoid footpad lost nosedive
Fyi, when it cuts out from regen overchaging going down hill it freewheels it doesn't lock up, and when this happens you get a very slight moment of warning as it goes down on the tail, so its not as dire a circumstance as a nose dive.

RE: OW stopping?
Seems like its been pretty much definitively proven by now that these episodes are rarely caused from a foot lifting off the sensor pad, but instead come simply from over balancing the board beyond the limits of its motor which causes the abrupt cut out, usually when pushing hard going up a steep hill, so a couple things that might help in these circumstances, stay lower, lean your upper body back to keep your weight more centered on the board, and edge your front foot back closer to the wheel which also helps keep your weight more centered on the board.

RE: FutureMotion Tech Support???
There's gotta be a bunch of BS lawyers in the Valley telling these tech companies not to respond on their forums, its not just here, its all over, even Tesla for god sake will let the most scurrilous and scandalous things sit on their forums forever, and let the most helpful suggestions in the world get immediately buried by BS. Maybe they'll do a piece on this in the Silicon Valley show (which BTW everyone should watch), but in the meantime, note to all startups, you'll never make it if you let these stupid VC lawyers run your company.

RE: OW fits on Burton Day Hiker Pro (28L)!
No doubt the best that can be done with stock gear but leaves the center of gravity way out in space and generally nobody likes carrying a load like that for very long. Ideally it would be frame rail against the back tilted at an angle so the frame goes across one shoulder, but of course nothing stock is going to do that very well.

RE: Who from OneWheel responds to the Technical Forum?
I think its very simple, if someone is willing to wear fall protection, then its fair to say that virtually any human being can learn to safely ride a onewheel, so there's no real safety reason for anyone not to buy a onewheel. However, if not, you pretty much gotta come from a board sport, know how to take a fall, and be willing to take at least one hard fall on asphalt before the constraints of the board will be indelibly seared into your brain.

RE: Why does the board have to lock up @ max speed?
The only thing that makes logical sense is they gotta be working on the lock up problem, but its something with the hardware like a cut-off of some kind with the DC motor that's supplied by others and thus can't just be tweaked with a few lines of code. It really seems to be the main thing holding these boards back from mass acceptance and unequivocal endorsement by current riders, I suspect its only a matter of time before we see a motor upgrade that definitively resolves this issue.

RE: Compare and contrast with other boards
Carpet around the house is best, regular people are generally too scared to start out on pavement, and yes obviously grass and gravel are no go's for a beginner...
