    • RE: Onewheel V1 noisier than Plus or XR?

      Agree that V1 is noisier.

A smaller detail I noticed is that the XR is louder at a standstill (while active) vs the V1 but once you start moving the V1's noise becomes more noticeable.

Any response from FM? Also what error code did you get exactly?

    • RE: Motor “cough”?
      • Anytime the board has less than 50%, you should start taking aggressive things, like going up a hill at a pretty decent pace, more cautiously because when you lean forward the motor is going to have to pull (exponentially?) more from the batteries to hold you up, but to increase speed at an angle.
      • Depending on how old the board is, the batteries might not hold as much juice as they used to, so they'll have a harder time going up hills

I had a V1 and was able to get to 24MPH on it once and can now only get to 17 max before teh motor starts giving out. The difference is that the 24MPH was when the board was still practically new, but now that I've added over a thousand miles to it, the batteries have definitely degraded.

    • RE: Error 16 Still not fixed since V1?!?!

So it looks like error 16 is similar to errors 22 and 23 where they've recently (Firmware > 4209) integrated some check to make sure you haven't modified the board to get more range. This check has a MAJOR bug issue as many, like you, have described being thrown off their board after they've ridden 8-9ish miles.

That specific issue hasn't existed until recently (past ~6 months or so), but generally about 95% of the situations people describe their board turning off randomly is typically from rider error.

If you are having the "Invalid hardware detected" issue, here are two workarounds until FM fixes it:

      • Just before your board reaches 9 miles, turn it off and then turn it back on. It may be slightly less I can't recall exactly
      • Don't connect your phone to the OW (aka don't open the app) at any time during the ride

    • RE: Wobble

My guess is loose bolts but check what they said^ and also see if your tire has any bulges?

    • RE: Squeaking sound

      Couple things to try

      1. Securely tighten all the screws in the middle area that connect the motor/hub/wheel part to the rail guard/rest of board. Don't forget to tighten the (2? or 4? Phillips ones)
      2. While it's on the chair, listen closely and see if you can pinpoint an exact area where the noise is coming from. Is the tire rubbing on something or is it coming from inside the hub?
      3. If it's a new board, ride it out for another 25-40 miles and see if the noise disappears

    • RE: I'm getting "I need personal space" message

so I hosed it off and rode around to make sure it still worked

If your board starts having issues after something like this is done, you're kinda SOL. Hate to break it to ya, but hosing is pretty much the worst thing you could do to any OW, including the pint.

The build quality of OW's vary greatly as some users can ride through rivers/rain with no problems while other users report it bricking after going through a small puddle.

Water damage is not covered under warranty so you're looking at a $400-800 repair, depending on if it's just the controller or the controller & battery that's damaged.

      Best of luck.

    • RE: Square Trade warranty on eBay?

Even before you purchase the plan etc. you could try calling both SquareTrade and FM to simply ask if they've done this before. I gotta believe somebody else has already run through this.

    • RE: Square Trade warranty on eBay?

      I'd read squaretrade's FAQ first.

Seems like there are some conditions (Won't cover any issues within first 45 days, water damage plan will cost more, used item warranty only lasts 2 years, they'll only cover as much as you paid for the item)

So, it COULD work depending on the condition of the Onewheel you purchase.
