    • RE: Pint charge port cap

Hmm, looks like that assortment is not available from Harbor Freight (at least not from the online store). I bought it in a brick-and-mortar store probably a year ago.

I don't think Harbor Freight actually makes these kits.

Looks like these can be found on ebay:
      https://www.ebay.com/itm/125pc-Rubber-Grommet-Firewall-Wire-Gasket-Solid-Hole-Plug-Assortment-Set/192919251868
This seller wants $10. I do not think I spent that much when I bought it in the store.

A little searching on ebay or google would probably find a better deal.
      Maybe start with

      It's the 12.07mm closed grommet.
After a bit of research online I discovered that 12.07mm is just 1/2 inch.

    • RE: When You Have The Pint & The XR, Which Are You Riding More And Why?

Just got a Pint a few weeks ago.
Very agile and responsive. It's perfect for riding around indoors.
I just put a Hoosier tire on my V1 and it is now made for offroad. It lives in the trunk of my car now and goes wherever I go. It's perfect for trails or anywhere.

It reminds me of a truck I once had. It was great fun offroad but it did not ride well on asphalt.

So I guess I ride the Pint more because it lives in my kitchen. But if I want to go adventuring it's the V1 that will take me there.

    • Pint charge port cap

I just got a Pint a few weeks ago and I have been trying to come up with a good charge port cover solution.
I think I found it in the form of a 12.07mm rubber grommet.

Nice tight fit. Sealed from dust and debris and splashing water. It even has a ridge so is easy to pry out with your finger to remove.
No 3D printing, no custom forming.

I bought this assorted grommet set from Harbor Freight. Someone could probably make some money buying a bunch of these kits and selling each grommet for more than the cost of the whole pack.

    • RE: 16mph Pushback Motor Noise

A little while ago mine started making noise intermittently under heavy load (acceleration or deceleration). After I had worked on it it seemed to go away. I think the motor just needed to be re-seated.
Next time it starts making noise I'll try loosening all 4 large hex screws around the axle and then re-tightening them.

    • RE: Custom Sensor Hack

@ashewheeler, very cool project. I am definitely interested to see how it goes.

I spent a while trying to figure out which connectors were used. Looks like like you may have isolated it.
Still, which exact connector do you think it is?

Also, where would be the best place to buy it?
These places would seem likely to carry it:

      • http://www.mouser.com/conxall/

I don't think I've ordered from any of these places. Anyone have any experience or recommendations?

    • RE: can you re-grip?

      @slydogstroh

I used Rule-OLeum LeakSeal. I did also mention it in this post.

      Rule-OLeum LeakSeal

For my project I applied a generous layer of this stuff around the seams, then the silicone to fill in gap between the top of the sensor and the foot pad base. Then another layer of LeakSeal all over. I also sprayed it on the bottom, where the wire goes into the base.
None of this seemed to affect the sensitivity of the sensor. I have never experienced a sensor problem.

I am happy with the results; it adheres very well and is fairly flexible. It also fills in space which I would not expect from a spray (it can foam up a little). Once dried it feels like a permanently attached thick rubber skin.

This worked great, but I am not saying there isn't still a better product out there. Forming a thick skin is good in general but I would be ok with something thinner. Being even more flexible would be good too.

    • RE: can you re-grip?

The original grip tape comes off easily. Just be careful when pulling it off to not damage the sensor while you're at it.

Adding new grip tape to the back footpad is simple.

Adding to the front pad took a little more creativity.
I used a rubber based spray water sealant to waterproof the sensor.
I then used a silicone fill to bring up the front and taper the sides so that the grip tape could be applied without deforming.
I used a large hole punch to open up the screw holes.

It's really solid: I doesn't feel like it would ever come off the foot pad and there's no movement anywhere. Solid footing.

    • RE: Do I void warranty if I paint it?

@8bit, yeah; I am also very curious about the foot sensor on the OW+.

First, I think its great that the top and bottom sensors cover the whole foot pad.

      • I do hope it is more protected against the elements in the new design; it doesn't seem like it should be that hard to completely seal the whole sensor up to the wire (so much that it could be submerged).

I guess I have more of a concern that on the OW+ you'll be standing on the sensor, instead of standing on the wood and plastic foot pad, part of which included a sensor.

      • I hope it is still very strong so that it will not weaken or split under shear force, and

      • does not obscure the feel of the ride; should not be able to feel the sensor give when standing on them.

Those are my concerns for the OW+ footpads, but I am sure FM did work to ensure these are not issues. If these footpads are available for sale I will definitely buy some to see if I could adapt them to my OW v1.
